Women for Women International, June 2007
On June 20, as part of its monthly series of events, the Patton Boggs Women’s Forum proudly hosted a program to advance the cause of Women for Women International, an organization which provides women survivors of war, civil strife, and other conflicts with the tools and resources to move from crisis and poverty to stability and self-sufficiency.
Firm partner and Executive Committee member Denise Vanison introduced Rebecca Kilner, the Director of Institutional Advancement with Women for Women International, who spoke to the gathering of firm professionals on the personal and financial support the organization gives to women in helping them find employment and live independently. The presentation also included a short DVD featuring women recounting some of their own tragedies and other ordeals they endured while in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Afghanistan, and other volatile parts of the world, and how Women for Women International assisted them in rebuilding their lives.
Women for Women International has served more than 93,000 women and distributed more than $32 million in aid since its 1993 inception.
Speaker -- Rebecca Milner
As Director of Institutional Advancement, Rebecca Milner oversees fundraising and communications for Women for Women International. She is a seasoned development professional with thirteen years of experience raising funds and conducting outreach for both domestic and international organizations.
Previously, Ms. Milner was director of development and outreach for the International Center for Journalists, senior associate for communications and development for the National Foundation for the Improvement of Education, and the director of research and records for American University's development office.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a Master of Public Administration from American University.
