Mary's Center for Maternal and Child Care-- May 2008

On May 21, 2008, the Women's Forum collected dozens of new and used baby items for Mary's Center for Maternal and Child Care, a pro bono client of the firm's since last year. Now in its 20th year, Mary's Center provides a host of affordable services to DC-area women, including prenatal and postnatal care, oral health, housing and food programs, and literacy classes. The Center says most of the 10,000 families it helps come from Central and Latin America and the items donated by Patton Boggs will be given to new mothers at a baby shower later in the month. About a dozen DC-based partners and associates help Mary's Center with various legal issues such as employment policies and grant negotiations.

Mary’s Center now has three locations to serve the Greater Washington, DC area—two in Northwest and one in Silver Spring, MD. The Center has been a federally qualified health center since 2005 and has been and a United Way affiliate since 1999. It is also a National Council of La Raza affiliate, an organization Patton Boggs also supports in various ways.
